2025 was a year of profound love, loss, and resilience at Lighthouse Farm Sanctuary.
One of the moments that captured hearts around the world was the rescue of Roscoe, a pig who had been living in a car alongside his human companion. When Roscoe arrived at Lighthouse, he finally had space to stretch out, fresh air, safety, and the promise of a forever home. His story reminded us why sanctuary matters — and how urgently animals still need safe places to land. Click here to see more about Roscoe and his story.
This year also brought painful goodbyes. We said farewell to three deeply loved residents who shaped Lighthouse in their own unique ways. Sydney, rescued in 2019 from a large-scale hoarding case, taught us the quiet strength of survival and trust. Gobo, who spent 15 beautiful years at the sanctuary, knew nothing but love, safety, and care — exactly what every animal deserves. And Norman, a sweet, gentle cow who left us far too soon, reminded us how deeply cows can love and be loved in return. Each of them is forever part of the heart of Lighthouse. And Betsy — an incredible mother to her son, Oliver — brought joy, warmth, and tenderness to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. It was such an honor to offer each of them loving care over the years and while our heart breaks at having to say goodbye, we are so grateful to have been able to call them family.

As we move into the new year, we do so with both gratitude and hope. Caring for over 300 animals is a daily act of commitment, and Lighthouse has always been a community-powered sanctuary. In 2026, we are seeking new board members and dedicated volunteers to help carry this mission forward — people who believe in showing up for animals, day after day, and ensuring Lighthouse not only survives, but thrives.
The animals are the reason we keep going. With renewed support and a growing community, we look ahead with hope for all that’s possible — for Roscoe, for every resident here, and for the many animals still waiting for safety.
