Summer 2007

Two of our residents check out the camera in hopes that it is editable.
Dear Friends,
We are finally settled into our new home! Thanks to all of you who helped make this dream come true. We couldn’t have done it without all of your help-preparing the new fields and building shelters; moving the animals from West Salem; and, most importantly, generously donating the money to make this permanent home a reality for the Lighthouse Farm Sanctuary.
Now that the dream has come true, reality is slowly setting in. Along with the lush pastures, magnificent shade trees and meandering creek, our farm has a mortgage. We continue to rely on the generous donations from all of our friends to make these monthly payments. Just as we have seen animals-like Stevie-blossom and shine as they develop trust in us, we trust that you will continue to help us provide a safe haven for abused and neglected farm animals, and to become more available as a community resource for education aånd animal rescue.
We are a success and the word about our work is spreading. Dr. Elizabeth Serevino, Animal Communications Specialist, is hoping to come out from the East coast to conduct a seminar in October. The 4-H CAT club from Port Townsend, WA is planning a visit to the sanctuary this summer. And of course there are always more animals in need: Willy, an orphaned Iamb who was left for dead, will be here soon; and Heartland Humane Society in Corvallis has asked for our help with Crooked Pete, an injured and abused horse who will need nearly $2000 in surgery.
The gift of a new home has put a smile on so many faces. You can see them on the front of this letter. And quite honestly, Lighthouse Farm Sanctuary cannot exist without help from people like you—people who care about the safety and dignity of animals. Thank you for your continued support.
PS. As this goes to the printers, the old water pump burned out.
