Work Parties

One of the best ways to help us is to join us for our weekly work parties. Come out, meet the animals, and help us get ready for another week!

Foreclosure animals get a helping hand

by Wayne S. Geiger

Fall 2008

Time and time again, the Lighthouse Farm Sanctuary receives calls from people telling us they can no longer afford their animal(s), they are losing their farm or some just move away, leaving animals behind. The stories we hear are heartbreaking, but we simply cannot take all of the animals or we would have thousands of them.

Much of the time, these people do not want to take them to the auction, slaughter them or sell them where they might be abused.  We wholeheartedly agree with this, but our resources are limited.

From this dilemma came the idea of an offsite web link where people can post their animal needs with people who are wanting or willing to take on some animals.  It is kind of  like a “matchmaking” service for farm animals and people, but what it is NOT is a place to sell animals.
The best thing about our new Adoption Center program is that it is easy to use.  Just log onto the Adoption Center and follow the directions.

We hope this will help prevent our pasture pals from becoming vicims of abuse and neglect.  Hopefully, a loving permanent home can be found for each animal, and they can all receive the care they need and deserve.  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
