DJ, in better times, May 2003.
DJ, the black sheep originally rescued from the Ark Animal Sanctuary in Tillamook 2002, passed away Sunday morning. He was very old and was starting to show signs of his age--bad teeth, losing weight, etc. He, along with other "Special Needs" sheep and goats, had been separated and was receiving extra TLC. However, it appears DJ died in his sleep as there were no signs of suffering; it just looked like he was sleeping.
When DJ arrived it appeared as if he hadn't been shorn in 2-3 years and his hooves were 2-3 inches overgrown. He walked with a limp. After correcting his hooves and giving him a haircut, he was seen running down the hill with the other sheep and goats. For more pictures go to the first page of our photo Gallery (new window).
We did good!
